We would like to keep this offering casual and accessible, so for now, no registration is required. Please plan to arrive 15min early to ensure we are able to start on time. Please arrive quietly, remove shoes upon entering, and enter silently to settle in for the practice. A brief introduction to the mantra and mediation practice will be given by either Zac or Rachel. We will use a mala to chant 108 rounds (you may join in or follow along silently), followed by silent meditation.

Blankets are available to sit on. Chairs can be provided if needed. You do not need a mala to practice, but feel free to bring whatever you need for your own comfort. Please leave cell phones in the car. No previous experience is necessary.

Mantra is a Sanskrit word that has many translations and interpretations, and as usual, it comes down to the practitioner’s intention and what resonates for that individual. The Sanskrit language is thought to be an ancient science, the mysterious way the syllables create vibration within the body and effect the nadis (energy channels that also correlate with the nervous system) has a calming and healing effect on the whole being. Mantra is essentially sound healing at its most basic level, the sound of our own voice imbued with the feeling of our own intentions or prayers for healing.

As the mystic Sufi master Vilayat Inayat Khan states, “The practice of mantra actually kneads the flesh of the body with sound. The delicate cells of the elaborate bundles of nerves are subjected to a constant hammering, a seizure of the flesh by the vibration of divine sound.”

Silent meditation will follow our mantra practice for further integration and healing. The purpose of meditation is to sit and come home to your self. It is a practice for healing human suffering and to eradicate mental impurities in order to experience liberation. It is simple and profound at the same time!

We hope this offering can provide a space for Sangha (spiritual community) to develop, an opportunity to feel the energy of practicing meditation with a group, and provide a space to cultivate stillness and peace in the world starting from within. We hope to see you soon! Namaste.
