Cistus Hydrolat

from $33.00

Cistus Hydrolat, also known as Rock Rose, is a superhero for a wide variety of skin conditions . It’s aroma has a warm, sweet, herbaceous quality that is not quite as rich or complex as the essential oil. It is wonderful for cell regeneration, and can be used directly on open wounds to clean and stop bleeding. It speeds up the healing process and reduces scars. Cistus Hydrolat supports a youthful balmy glow by plumping the cells to reduce fine lines or wrinkles. Mist your face after a sun burn or after you wash your face to revitalize dull skin. It also makes a great aftershave spray. Use in combination with Cistus essential oil for a more potent application for prevention of skin cancer or reduction/removal of sun spots. Also useful for ulcers, Crohn’s disease, or ulcerative colitis. Energetically and emotionally, mist yourself with Cistus Hydrolat during times of emotional distress when the heart feels vulnerable and delicate. Cistus Hydrolat is a heart tonic and helps to ground the Shen (in TCM this is the spirt of the Heart relating to the emotional mind/consciousness and is the source of self awareness) back into the body for courage during difficult times. Cistus is one of the ingredients in the Bach flower Rescue Remedy and can greatly reduce feelings of stress, emotional extremes, and shock.

*During steam distillation, the plant releases both a water component (the hydrolat) and an oil component (the essential oil). Each containing it’s own therapeutic properties. Hydrolats are sometimes referred to as the homeopathic approach to aromatherapy.

*Hydrolats do have a shelf life and should be stored in the refrigerator for optimal freshness!
