Origin:
South Pacific

Botanical Family: Santalaceae

Latin Name: Santalum austrocaledonicum

The aroma of this South Pacific variety of Sandalwood is sweet, earthy, woody, balsamic and rich with an energetic musky layer that complex and inviting. It is wonderful for mature skin as it assists with cell regeneration, improves skin quality if the skin is thin or easily tears and provides a balmy protective layer while smoothing any lines/wrinkles. For skin that is prone to acne or blemishes, sandalwood essential oil can assist with regulating oil production within the skin and fights bacteria while calming any inflammation or rosacea. From an Ayurvedic perspective, Sandalwood is cooling to pitta and grounding for vata types. It is a tonic to the immune system, the Central Nervous System, the kidneys and adrenals. This essence is also useful for hemorrhoids, UTI, respiratory issues, cysts/tumors, soothing anxiety, lifting depression and is a gentle aphrodisiac. This slow growing evergreen invites one to slow their pace and interrupts the tendency of business and burnout. Sandalwood has a calming and centering effect on the mind, which makes it a useful essence to bring along for meditation or yoga. Energetically this essence can assist with relaxing into the moment and trusting in the divine unfolding of life.
